About

The iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE supports projects that contribute to improving society and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Organized by iF Design, the prize empowers initiatives that make a measurable difference in communities worldwide.

Every year, iF Design donates EUR 100,000 to support the best projects submitted. Applying is free of charge, and projects must already be established and connected to design as part of their concept, process, or impact.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to organizations and institutions (not individuals or student concepts).
  • Projects must:
    • Be established and operational.
    • Relate to one or more of the 15 UN SDGs (No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water, Affordable Energy, Decent Work, Innovation, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities, Responsible Consumption, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land).
    • Incorporate design relevance (design thinking, creative branding, or design-driven solutions).
  • The same project can be submitted a maximum of two times.

Target Audience

This prize is designed for:

  • Social innovators and NGOs working on SDG-related projects.
  • Design-driven organizations applying creativity to solve social challenges.
  • Community-based initiatives addressing poverty, hunger, education, or sustainability.
  • Enterprises and institutions scaling impactful social solutions.

Package Inclusion

Winners benefit from:

  • A share of EUR 100,000 in prize funding.
  • Publication on the iF Design website.
  • Presentation to a global design community, the public, and media.
  • An official winner certificate.

Evaluation Criteria

Projects are judged on five criteria:

  1. Problem-Solving – Does it solve a real problem with innovation and usability?
  2. Moral-Ethical Standards – Does it promote dignity, fairness, and environmental responsibility?
  3. Design Relevance – Is design integrated into the project’s process or impact?
  4. Effort vs. Value – Is it resource-efficient, feasible, and scalable?
  5. Beneficial Experiences – Does it create positive, inclusive, and transformative experiences?

Jury Process

  • Independent, rotating experts from the social sector evaluate projects.
  • Each project is reviewed individually in an online jury session.
  • Finalists are selected collectively based on impact and alignment with SDGs.

Timeline

  • Registration Deadline (Round 1): 20 May 2026, 23:59 CET
  • Prize Announcement: Later in 2026 after jury evaluation
