The Planet Forward Storyfest Awards spotlight the voices of students who tell powerful stories about solutions for a more sustainable and resilient planet. The 2026 edition, themed “New Horizons,” seeks engaging and impactful stories that address the challenges and innovations shaping our shared future.
Students are invited to explore topics such as climate justice, conservation, sustainable food systems, biodiversity, water management, clean energy, mobility, and public health. Whether you’re studying journalism, agriculture, engineering, or environmental science, this contest provides an opportunity to share your ideas and research through compelling storytelling.
Award Categories
Participants can submit entries in one of the following categories:

Best Video: 1–8 minutes in length, showcasing strong visuals and storytelling.

Best Written Story: 600–1,000 words, featuring at least one original image and credible primary sources.

Best Multimedia Story: A creative mix of visuals, audio, and text to communicate a sustainability concept.

Framing the Future Award: For outstanding originality, research depth, and creative presentation.

Fan Favorite Award: Selected by public vote during the 2026 Planet Forward Summit.
Eligibility and Prizes
The contest is open to students from all academic backgrounds, encouraging diverse perspectives on sustainability. Winners will receive recognition, prizes, and the opportunity to join Planet Forward’s reporting trip—a prestigious experience to document environmental innovation firsthand.
