Call for Applications: COP30 CCMP Reporting Fellowship

Now in its 18th year, the Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Fellowship brings journalists from low- and middle-income countries to cover the annual UN climate negotiations. For COP30 (7–18 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil), CCMP will support both in-person and virtual fellows reporting on climate policy, environmental impacts and adaptation efforts.

Who Should Apply
• Professional journalists based in a low- or middle-income country*, not previously funded or self-funded to attend a UNFCCC COP
• Demonstrated experience covering climate change or environmental topics, with two published work samples from 15 July 2024–15 July 2025
• A clear, detailed reporting plan for COP30, including prospective story ideas and expected output volume
• Availability for all fellowship activities; in-person applicants must commit to travel to Belém and tolerate shared accommodation if required
• Strong command of English; applications accepted only in English

Fellowship Tracks
In-Person Fellows (dates TBC)
• Economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, ground transport and medical insurance covered
• Reimbursement of visa costs; visa procurement is the fellow’s responsibility
• Small stipend for incidental expenses
• Pre-COP virtual workshop, in-person orientation and daily briefings with senior EJN trainers
• Access to editorial support, Trello resources, group chat, and arranged interviews with officials and experts

Virtual Fellows (Pacific Islands only)
• Communications stipend for reliable internet access
• Pre-COP virtual workshop and ongoing editorial support via Zoom
• Access to livestreams, recordings and curated resources for remote coverage

*Eligible in-person applicants must report from a World Bank low- or middle-income country (list updated 17 June 2025). Virtual applicants must report for Pacific Island media outlets.

  2. Complete all sections, upload CV, two recent work samples, a 2-minute video outlining your COP30 reporting focus, and a letter of support from your media outlet.
  3. Save drafts as needed and submit before the deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
