Evaluating the SDGs from the Ground Up
Youth aged 18–24 worldwide are invited to join the UNITAR Global Youth Scholars Development Programme, a flagship initiative empowering young changemakers to assess the impact of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their own communities. This free, year-long programme (April 2025–February 2026) combines online learning, field research, international networking, and a final showcase in Geneva.
Programme Highlights
- Monthly Online Training (June–December 2025)
Virtual modules on SDG evaluation methods, citizen-led monitoring, and digital tools, led by UN experts and sustainability professionals. - Field-Based SDG Evaluations (July–December 2025)
Conduct local case studies to measure SDG progress using tools and methodologies from the online sessions. - Optional Study Visits (July, August, October & November 2025)
In-person tours to Geneva, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, and more. Participants may incur travel fees depending on destination and circumstances. - Evaluation Review & Recognition (December 2025–February 2026)
UNITAR committee reviews reports; top scholars are invited to Geneva in February 2026 to present findings and network with global decision-makers.
Who Should Apply?
- Age: 18–24 years old at programme start
- Passion: Commitment to sustainability, policy, or global development
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership potential or community impact
- Skills: Strong communication in English; access to internet and device
- Dedication: Able to complete all coursework and submit a final evaluation report
