The United Nations has launched the African Policy Innovation Fellowship, a transformative initiative designed to address structural inequalities and support Africa’s development in alignment with Agenda 2063.

In response to UN resolutions A/75/917 and A/77/644, this Fellowship offers junior to mid-level African policymakers the opportunity to build institutional capacities in policy analysis, design, and monitoring. By bridging the gap between policy formulation and implementation at the national level, the program aims to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and peacebuilding across the continent.

The Fellowship emphasizes:

  • Capacity building in inclusive, transparent, and accountable policymaking

  • Mentorship and collaborative learning grounded in global best practices

  • Post-fellowship support to promote long-term impact in participants’ home countries

The program envisions creating a new generation of African policymakers who are not only technically skilled but also deeply committed to public service and inclusive growth.
