Call for Proposals – IFAD Grant on Rural Sector Performance Assessment

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has announced a call for proposals to implement the initiative “Leveraging IFAD’s Rural Sector Performance Assessment for Policy and Investment.” This grant opportunity is designed to strengthen rural development by improving the policy and investment environment through enhanced assessment tools.

The total grant financing available is up to US$1.2 million, with applicants required to provide a counterpart contribution of at least 20% (25% for private sector institutions). In-kind contributions may also be considered.

Agricultural Relevance

Agriculture is central to rural development, and this initiative directly supports efforts to:

  • Strengthen rural policy frameworks that guide agricultural investment.
  • Improve agricultural productivity through evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support smallholder farmers by creating enabling environments for inclusive growth.
  • Promote sustainable rural economies through better alignment of policies and investments.

By leveraging performance assessments, the grant aims to ensure that agricultural and rural investments are more effective, targeted, and impactful.

Applicants must demonstrate experience in rural development, policy assessment, and the regions or countries where the grant will be implemented.

Application Process

  • Expression of Interest (optional): Submit by 31 July 2026 to RSPAgrant@ifad.org.
  • Full Proposal Deadline: 4 September 2026, 12:00 CET.
  • Required Documents:
    • Project proposal using the Grant Concept Note template.
    • Indicative budget using the activity-based budget template.
    • Self-certification of eligibility.
    • Institutional profile demonstrating relevant experience.

An online Q&A session will be held on 21 July 2026 (14:00–15:00 CET) to address applicant queries.
