The FAO and the University of Helsinki’s Viikki Food Design Factory invite startups to submit innovative, data-driven solutions that empower smallholder farmers and integrate farm-level data into the global agrifood economy.

– FAO Science & Innovation Forum, Rome (16 October 2025)
– Y Science at Slush, Helsinki (19–20 November 2025)

What They’re Looking For:
Startups that can:

• Create scalable tech solutions that organize and elevate farm-level data

• Develop fair business models where farmers are compensated for data

• Facilitate data integration into supply chains and sustainability platforms

• Enable farmers to own, sell, or trade their data transparently

• Link farm data with broader sustainability and economic initiatives

Eligibility:

• Startup with ≥2 team members

• TRL 3–7 (Proof of Concept to Approved Prototype)

• Funding: Pre-seed to Series A, max €500K annual revenue

• Must be able to travel to Rome & Helsinki

• All submissions in English
