The Agenzia Regionale Diritto allo Studio Universitario (DSU), under the Tuscany Regional Council, offers scholarships to support students’ right to education at the University of Pisa.

What the DSU Grant Covers:

  • Free accommodation

  • Free meals at University dining halls

  • Financial contribution for additional expenses (e.g., sports, books)

  • Exemption from University tuition fees

Eligibility:
The scholarship is open to students who are planning to enroll or are already enrolled in a degree program at the University of Pisa, provided they do not already hold a degree of the same level.

How to Apply:
Applications are submitted online via the Sportello Studente portal, typically starting in July. Students can apply even if they are not yet enrolled. Since the scholarship is awarded annually, reapplication is required each academic year.

Requirements for Different Student Categories:

  • Foreign Students (with income abroad): Must apply online, print the receipt, and send it as instructed in the call for applications, along with certified family economic documents and a valid ID.

  • EU Students: Must complete a specific declaration form downloadable at the end of the application process.

  • Non-EU Students from Developing Countries: Must provide a certificate verifying non-membership in a high-income, high-status family, issued by:

    • The Italian diplomatic office in the home country, or

    • The embassy or consulate of the home country in Italy, legalized by the Italian Prefettura.

  • Other Non-EU Students: Must submit documents (translated into Italian and legalized) covering:

    • Family status

    • Income

    • Real estate and movable assets

Selection and Ranking:
Applications are assessed primarily on family income in the first year. In subsequent years, academic performance is also considered. A single ranking for both Italian and international students is published, with provisional results expected by September and final rankings by November. Results are available through students’ personal accounts.
