FAO Call for Nominations: Celebrating 80 Years of Excellence in Plant Production and Protection

To mark its 80th anniversary, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations is recognizing outstanding best practices and innovative approaches in sustainable plant production and protection from the past 40 years. This global call for nominations is open to institutions and stakeholders who have contributed meaningfully to plant-based food systems.

 Recognition Categories

FAO will honor exemplary work in the following domains:

  • Crop Germplasm Management: Conservation and distribution of plant genetic resources.

  • Crop Variety Improvement: Development and adoption of improved crop types for food, feed, fiber, oil, and more.

  • Agronomic Advancements: Efficient, sustainable practices and agricultural digitalization.

  • Plant Health Management: Integrated pest and disease management and phytosanitary efforts.

  • Technology and Extension Services: Transformative agricultural advisory services and enabling environments.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Institutions and stakeholders such as:

  • Research and academic institutions

  • Extension and advisory service providers

  • Development agencies

  • Civil society organizations

  • Private sector entities

Timeline & Submission

  • Deadline for Nominations: 30 June 2025

  • Recognition Ceremony: 10–13 October 2025 at the World Food Forum’s FAO Global Exhibition: From Seeds to Foods
