Open annually from 1 July to 15 January. All complete submissions received by 15 January are reviewed together.
Who Can Apply
- Hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in a relevant field
- Have identified a KAUST faculty member (“Host PI”) willing to support your research plan
Required Application Materials
Prepare each as a separate PDF before you begin:
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 4 pages, including publication list)
- Two Publications (combined into one PDF)
- Research Proposal with any appendices (use KAUST template)
- Host PI Support Letter (using KAUST template)
- Names and contact details of two referees (they will submit letters via the system when requested)

How to Apply
- Register as an Applicant on the KAUST Pluto Portal.
- Complete the online form (takes approximately 20–25 minutes).
- Save and resume as needed—your progress is auto-saved.
- Submit by 15 January to ensure inclusion in the annual review.
