Overview

The MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security equips students with specialist knowledge and skills needed by governments, research organisations, NGOs, commercial companies, and farms to address today’s most pressing challenges in agriculture and food systems.

This programme explores critical issues such as:

  • Human exploitation of Earth’s resources
  • Poverty alleviation and rural development
  • Ethical and cultural implications of agricultural policy
  • Strategic approaches to food security and sustainability

Programme Structure

  • Duration: 1 year (full‑time) or 2+ years (part‑time)
  • Start Dates: 28 September 2026 or 18 January 2027
  • Modules: Five core modules + three electives
  • Research Project: Conducted over the summer, culminating in a review and academic paper

Practical exercises include preparing tenders, presentations, and group assignments, ensuring graduates are ready for careers in production, policy, consultancy, and research.

Entry Requirements

  • Undergraduate Honours Degree (2:2 or above) or overseas equivalent
  • Professional qualification and/or relevant experience may also be considered

Tuition fees cover teaching, registration, and examination costs (excluding repeat modules or dissertation extensions).
