The PRIMARY Open Call 2026 offers €900,000 in funding to support innovative partnerships that validate, adapt, and scale sustainable agricultural solutions across Europe. This initiative focuses on transforming rural economies through circular approaches to agricultural waste valorisation and underutilised feedstocks.

Agricultural Relevance

The programme is particularly relevant for farmers, cooperatives, agritech startups, and research institutions working to:

  • Valorise agricultural waste into profitable products.
  • Demonstrate replicability and scalability of sustainable processes in new European regions.
  • Generate practical evidence of technical feasibility, economic viability, and sustainability under real rural conditions.
  • Develop profitable value chains from underutilised agricultural feedstocks.

Funding Available

  • €150,000 maximum for 3‑partner consortia
  • €100,000 maximum for 2‑partner consortia
  • €50,000 maximum per individual partner
  • 6–9 sub‑projects will be funded

Who Can Apply?

Consortia must include:

  • At least one technical partner (capable of testing/validating the technology or process).
  • At least one partner from either:
    • Public sector: universities, research institutions, public bodies
    • Private sector: primary producers, cooperatives, startups, SMEs, NGOs

Timeline

  • Call Launch: March 9, 2026
  • Deadline: June 8, 2026 (17:00 CET/Brussels time)
  • Project Implementation: November 2026 – April 2028
  • Duration: 1–18 months per sub‑project
