The STDF supports collaborative and innovative projects that strengthen sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) capacity, helping countries comply with international standards to facilitate trade.
1. Project Preparation Grants (PPG)
- Funding: Up to US$50,000
- Purpose: Prepare technically sound and sustainable SPS projects.
- Use Cases:
- Applying SPS-related capacity evaluation tools
- Preparing feasibility studies
- Formulating project proposals linked to SPS capacity building needs and trade
- Outcome: Projects prepared with PPGs may receive further funding from STDF or other sources.
- Application Tip: Consult potential donors while preparing your PPG application.
2. Project Grants (PG)
- Funding: Up to US$1,000,000
- Purpose: Implement projects that improve food safety, animal, and plant health to meet international SPS requirements.
- Requirements:
- Address specific SPS challenges affecting trade
- Beneficiaries must contribute to the project via financing or in-kind resources (staff time, premises, vehicles, etc.)
- Only available to developing countries listed by the OECD DAC
