TECH4Resilience Challenge – Harnessing AI to Tackle Climate and Humanitarian Crises

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP), in collaboration with the Gates Foundation and the Trafigura Foundation, has launched the TECH4Resilience Challenge to convert seed-level AI innovations into scalable solutions that address climate-related emergencies and humanitarian challenges.

🌍 Focus Areas

  • AI-driven solutions that reduce the impacts of extreme climate events in emergency settings

  • Strengthening Anticipatory Action (AA) frameworks to better manage crises before escalation

  • Locally rooted, scalable, and predictive innovations to support communities in the Global South

👥 Who Can Apply?

  • Innovators and entrepreneurs using AI for climate or humanitarian resilience

  • Both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations are eligible

  • Projects must target emergencies in low- and middle-income countries (ODA-eligible), excluding Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Crimea

💰 What Winners Receive

  • Tailored leadership and mentoring programme

  • Communications support and investor-pitch preparation

  • Up to USD 50,000 funding to scale solutions

  • Ongoing mentoring, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) support

📅 Timeline

  • 1 August – Challenge opens

  • 19 August – Webinar for applicants

  • 31 August – Application deadline

  • 30 September – Notification of outcomes

  • October – Leadership Academy for shortlisted candidates

  • Nov–Dec – Winners announced at COP30

  • 2026 – Project implementation & ongoing support
