Ready to turn your classroom learning into real-world impact? AgriConnect launches a paid Summer Internship Programme starting 1 August 2024 designed to place students with agriculture industry partners and IT firms so you can gain practical skills, build networks, and jumpstart your career in agricultural value chains and agritech.

Who this is for

You are eligible if you:

  • Are currently enrolled in an agriculture or agriculture-related programme at one of the 10 AgriConnect participating tertiary institutions (universities or TVETs).
  • Are enrolled in AgriConnect and have completed all three AgriConnect Supplemental Courses.
  • Have demonstrated strong academic performance in your current programme.
  • Have basic digital literacy and are comfortable using common software (e.g., Microsoft Word).

AgriConnect is gender-responsive and inclusive. A percentage of placements are reserved for female students and differently abled persons.

What interns will do

Typical activities depend on host placement but may include:

  • Hands-on farm tasks (planting, weeding, harvesting) and organic/ sustainable practices
  • Support for cooperatives: post-harvest handling, product prep for market, quality checks
  • Assist in digital/IT roles supporting agricultural platforms, farm data tools, or market linkages
  • Participating in extension support, demonstrations, or community agro-training sessions
