The AFRICA Awards recognize and celebrate individuals, groups, or organizations that have demonstrated excellence in Agriculture, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ASTI), advancing the Agricultural Innovation System (AIS) and agripreneurship across Africa.
Award Categories
The AFRICA Awards comprise three distinguished categories:

AFRICA Research Excellence Award – Celebrating outstanding research contributions that drive innovation in African agriculture.

AFRICA Innovation-based Entrepreneurship Award – Recognizing entrepreneurs who have created innovative agricultural solutions with real-world impact.

AFRICA Impactful and Evidence-based Policies Award – Honoring policy interventions that have significantly improved agricultural systems and outcomes.
Selection Process
Awardees are selected by the AFRICA Independent Awards Selection Committee (AIASC), an autonomous body of five eminent personalities appointed jointly by:

The President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank

The Executive Director of FARA
The AIASC is supported by the Africa Awards Working Group (AAWG), consisting of professionals from FARA and Afreximbank.
Call for Nominations
The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), in partnership with Afreximbank, invites nominations for the AFRICA Awards.
Eligibility of Nominators

Nominators can be individuals (African or non-African) with a proven track record in African agriculture, including research, policy, industry, and development.

Exclusions: Members of the AIASC, organizations led by AIASC members, and staff of FARA or Afreximbank cannot nominate candidates.
