AIG Fellowship: Elevating Public Sector Leaders in Africa

In partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, the AIG Fellowship offers exceptional public servants a unique opportunity to deepen their policy expertise, reflect on global best practices, and contribute to transformative change in Africa.

About the Fellowship:

  • Who It’s For: Senior public sector leaders (Directors-General, CEOs, etc.) with a proven track record of impactful reforms in health, education, agriculture, finance, energy, justice, defense, or security.

  • What It Offers: A 6-month study and engagement period at Oxford, where fellows collaborate with scholars, produce policy papers, and share insights through workshops or lectures.

  • Goal: To equip leaders with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to address Africa’s most pressing governance challenges.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Leadership Role: Must hold a senior position (e.g., DG, CEO) in the public sector.

  • Experience: Minimum 6 years before retirement, with measurable impact in the past 5 years.

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent + evidence of continuous professional development.

  • Endorsement: Formal support from a high-ranking public official (e.g., Minister, Governor).

  • Ethics: Impeccable service record and security clearance.

  • Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru (Nigeria’s first female FIRS Executive Chairman).

  • Justice Georgina Wood (Ghana’s first female Chief Justice).

  • Prof. Attahiru Jega (Former INEC Chairman, Nigeria).
