The African Union Commission (AUC) has opened applications for its Internship Program, offering young Africans the chance to gain professional exposure within AU departments and directorates. This program is designed to complement academic training with practical experience, preparing participants to contribute to Africa’s sustainable development.

Application Deadline: December 31, 2026 Location: African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and other AU offices Duration: 3 months (renewable once)

Agriculture and Rural Development Focus

Interns can be placed in the Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (ARBE) directorate, where they will:

• Support programs advancing sustainable agriculture and food security.
• Contribute to initiatives in rural development and community resilience.
• Gain exposure to climate-smart farming, fisheries, and forestry policies.
• Assist in projects aligned with Agenda 2063 and Africa’s agricultural transformation goals.

This makes the internship highly relevant for students and graduates in agriculture, environmental science, rural development, and related fields.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s program or hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree.
• Be nationals of an African Union Member State (including Ghana).
• Be aged 32 or younger at the time of selection.
• Be fluent in at least one AU working language (English, French, Arabic, Portuguese).
• Demonstrate integrity, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

Terms and Conditions

• Internships are unpaid; travel, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
• Interns must have individual insurance coverage during the internship.
• The AU will assist with entry and residence visas where applicable.
• Internships are authorized only once per candidate.
