Bonn International Fellowships – University of Bonn

The Bonn International Fellowships invite excellent researchers from all disciplines to spend a short stay (up to 12 days) at the University of Bonn, fostering collaboration and enriching the university’s academic life.

Call Timeline

• Call opens: 29 May 2025

• Application deadline: 22 September 2025 (5 pm CET)

• Outcomes announced: by early December 2025

• Fellowship period: 1 January to 31 December 2026

Funding Details

• Travel allowance for the fellow (based on country of origin)

• Daily stipend of €160 for up to 12 days (including arrival and departure days)

• Material expenses up to €500 per project for event costs (catering, outreach, etc.)

Who Can Participate?

• Post-doctoral scholars and experienced faculty with a strong international research reputation

• Must be formally invited by a host scientist at the University of Bonn

• Applications are submitted only by Bonn host scientists with a doctoral degree

Selection Criteria

• Fellow’s scientific reputation and research achievements

• Contribution to Bonn’s academic community (e.g., lectures, seminars, colloquia)

• Potential for sustained collaboration and long-term impact

Application Requirements (to be submitted by the host scientist)

1. Completed online application form

2. Project description (max 6 pages) including:

   • Planned visit period

   • Rationale for invitation and key research accomplishments

   • Overview of any existing collaboration

   • Integration plan for the fellow’s academic activities in Bonn

   • Expected outcomes and follow-up collaboration objectives

   • Fellow’s informal declaration of consent

3. Fellow’s CV

4. Signed invitation letter from the host

5. Detailed financing plan
