Overview:
The Conservation, Food & Health Foundation funds projects and applied research that protect the environment, improve food production, and promote public health across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Foundation prioritizes seed funding for promising initiatives, helping organizations and individuals build a track record to attract larger grants in the future.

Areas of Support

Conservation:

  • Protect biodiversity and natural resources
  • Mitigate climate change impacts
  • Strengthen local conservation organizations and foster partnerships
  • Engage communities, scientists, and decision-makers
  • Work with indigenous populations

Food & Agriculture:

  • Promote sustainable agricultural practices
  • Build small-scale farmers’ capacity
  • Support research partnerships and pest/disease control
  • Advance local food sovereignty and knowledge
  • Improve extension, education, and technology transfer

Health:

  • Promote reproductive health and family planning
  • Support community-level disease prevention and health promotion
  • Address mental, behavioral, environmental, and nutritional health
  • Increase understanding of zoonotic and neglected tropical diseases

Key Priorities

  • Capacity building, replication potential, and systemic impact
  • Projects that can influence public policy and benefit beyond local communities
  • Focus on under-funded issues and regions

Eligibility

  • Local, state, and regional NGOs, nonprofits, community-based organizations, and academic institutions in eligible regions
  • Organizations in upper-income countries working with local partners
  • Government agencies and religious organizations may participate as partners, but not as direct recipients
  • Not eligible: projects in post-Soviet or Balkan states, overhead costs, general operations, direct humanitarian aid, eco-tourism, buildings/capital, private gain projects, executive salaries

Grant Details

  • Typical award: $25,000–$50,000 per year
  • Duration: 1–2 years (second-year funding contingent on progress report)
  • One proposal per organization per calendar year
  • Reports required: interim progress/financial reports and final report within one year

Application & Deadlines

  • Next Application Opening: January 1, 2026, 12:00 PM
  • Grant awards made twice yearly (spring and fall)
