Are you from one of the eligible countries and planning to pursue a master’s degree? The University of Groningen offers the Eric Bleumink Fellowship, a prestigious scholarship supporting outstanding students from developing countries to undertake a 1- or 2-year master’s programme (MSc, MA, or LL.M.).

Who is eligible?

  • Candidates must have received provisional or unconditional admission to a Master’s programme before February of the academic year.

  • Must demonstrate excellent academic performance, including strong bachelor’s grades and preferably letters of recommendation.

  • Proficiency in English as required by the chosen programme.

  • Be available to participate fully throughout the programme duration.

  • Hold nationality from one of the eligible countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, and many more (see full list above).

  • Have no other financial means to fund their study.

  • Be in good health to obtain health insurance in the Netherlands.

What does the fellowship cover?
The fellowship covers tuition fees, international travel costs, living expenses, books, and health insurance.

Important details:

  • The scholarship is awarded based on nomination by the University of Groningen’s Admission Office and faculty Admission Boards.

  • Applicants cannot apply directly for the fellowship.

  • To be considered, candidates must complete their master’s programme application by December 1st and receive admission by February.

  • Only a limited number of scholarships are awarded annually due to high competition.
