FASA (Financing for Agri-SMEs in Africa) is a fund-of-funds designed to unlock financing for agricultural small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Africa by supporting investment funds active in the sector.

Investment Strategy
FASA supports emerging and established fund managers across any asset class, currency, or region, provided their focus is on Africa’s agricultural sector.
For selected funds, FASA provides:
- $2M to $10M in subordinated capital, primarily as junior equity
- Capacity building and technical assistance to fund managers and their agri-SME portfolios
Note: FASA does not provide grants directly to agri-SMEs.
Eligibility Criteria for Funds
- On-the-ground presence – At least one senior investment professional based (or intending to be based) in Africa
- Investment focus – SME investment fund with initial tickets from $15K to $5M
- Agricultural exposure – At least 30% of investable capital deployed in agri-SMEs
- Exclusion compliance – Avoid investments in activities on the IFC Exclusion List
- ESG & Impact – Implement FASA’s minimum ESG and impact practices
- Gender alignment – Comply with FASA’s gender requirements
- Learning commitment – Participate in FASA’s learning agenda
- Data room accessibility – Maintain accessible fund information, including governance, portfolio, team bios, ESG & impact policies, and market research

- Investisseurs et Partenaires (I&P) – FASA Fund Manager; impact investment group supporting African entrepreneurs and fund managers
- CGIAR Hub for Sustainable Finance (ImpactSF) – Agriculture and climate partner; provides data-driven solutions and capacity building for climate-smart investment
