The Université de Montréal offers an Exemption Scholarship that waives all or part of the supplemental tuition fees normally charged to international students. This merit-based program aims to attract top talent from around the world and enrich the university’s francophone research community.
Who Is Eligible?

New or continuing international students (excluding French and French-speaking Belgian nationals)

Must hold an offer of admission to a full-time degree program (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral)

Must maintain full-time enrolment (unless an approved leave is granted) for the entire duration of their studies

Must hold and maintain valid study authorizations for all terms

May not already benefit from another form of tuition-fee exemption
Scholarship Levels & Amounts
All amounts are in Canadian dollars and are deducted directly from tuition fees.
Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Programs

Level A: $458.02 per credit – up to $13,740.60 per year

Level B: $218.28 per credit – up to $6,548.40 per year
Graduate (Master’s) Programs

Research-based: $336.66 per credit – up to $15,150.00 per year

Course-based: $239.75 per credit – up to $10,788.75 per year
Graduate (Doctoral) Programs

Full waiver: $509.08 per credit – up to $22,908.60 per year
How It Works

Apply for admission to a full-time program before the deadline.

Receive an offer of admission; no separate scholarship application is required.

Eligible students are evaluated automatically and notified by email of their exemption-award level and amount.
Renewal & Duration

The exemption applies each term—fall, winter, and summer—as long as eligibility criteria are met.

Continuing students retain their previously awarded level if they maintain full-time enrolment and academic standing.
