About the Programme

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications for Low Value Grants (LVGs) under the Prevention Facility for the Gulf of Guinea.

The initiative seeks to strengthen livelihoods, socio-economic resilience, and peacebuilding in at-risk, border, and cross-border communities in Northern Ghana. Special focus will be placed on women and youth, empowering them through inclusive trade, sustainable income opportunities, and value-chain development.

Objectives

  • Support vulnerable border communities (including displaced groups) to access equitable economic opportunities.

  • Enhance socio-economic resilience and prevent community conflicts and violent extremism.

  • Promote cross-border trade and cooperation through youth- and women-led initiatives.

Expected Outputs

  • At least 2 cross-border dialogue and trade events led by women and youth (“Trade for Peace” approach).

  • Support to women and youth (including refugees) to scale up sustainable income-generating trade practices.

  • Creation of women-led joint ventures/cooperatives generating regular income.

  • Training and mentorship in entrepreneurship, life skills, and financial management.

  • Minimum 200 direct beneficiaries, with at least 80% female participation.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a legally registered CSO, NGO, CBO, or grassroots organization operating in Ghana.

  • Have experience with community-level interventions, especially for women and youth.

  • Demonstrate capacity to manage projects transparently and accountably.

  • Provide a 5% matching contribution (cash or in-kind).

  • Show ability to collaborate with local authorities and institutions.

Grant Details

  • Funding Ceiling: Up to USD 95,000 (value-for-money principle applies).

  • Duration: Activities must conclude by February 2026.

  • Target Locations:

    • Sawla Tuna Kalba Municipality (Saru, Tadarayiri)

    • Tempane District (Basyonde, Woriyanga)

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • Completed project proposal form (in English)

  • Detailed budget (USD)

  • Registration certificate (proof of legal status)

  • Audited financial statements (last 2 years) or proof of annual income

  • CVs of key personnel and evidence of prior project experience

Submission Method: Applications must be sent by email with subject line “Prevention Facility – Ghana proposal”. Handwritten or late submissions will not be accepted.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be scored on:

  • Technical approach & methodology (50 points)

  • Institutional capacity & experience (20 points)

  • Budget soundness & value-for-money (30 points)
    Total: 100 points – only top-ranked proposals will be considered.
