Overview
The ESD Okayama Award, established in 2015, honors outstanding initiatives in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) worldwide. Jointly sponsored by the City of Okayama and the ESD Okayama Award Steering Board, the award supports project organizations, spreads ESD activities globally, and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Eligibility
- Open to ESD projects implemented for more than 3 years (as of April 2026).
- Applications are welcome from organizations anywhere in the world.
Number of Awards
- 1–2 projects will be selected.
Prize
- USD $3,000 per project
- Certificate of recognition
- Invitation to the award ceremony in Okayama, Japan

- Deadline: 14 May 2026 (Thursday), 5:00 PM JST
- Award Ceremony: 14 November 2026 (Saturday), Okayama City, Japan
Award Ceremony
One representative from each winning organization will be invited to Okayama City to:
- Attend the ceremony
- Present their project
- Interact with local organizations and share experiences
Application Process
- Temporary Registration: Register your organization’s email address via the official portal.
- Application Submission: Complete the online form using the draft template provided.
- Temporary Acceptance: Receive automated confirmation of submission.
- Completion: Final confirmation email from the Secretariat.
