Overview

Launched in 2022, the Plants Best PhD Thesis Award is presented annually to recognize young scholars who have completed the most outstanding PhD thesis in the field of plant science. The award encourages continued excellence and further contributions to advancing plant research globally.

Prize

  • CHF 500 bonus
  • Certificate of Achievement
  • Voucher to waive Article Processing Charges (APCs) for one submission in Plants (valid for one year, subject to peer review)
  • Number of Winners: 3

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a PhD student or recently qualified PhD fellow with a thesis of high academic potential.
  • The thesis must be original work.
  • The thesis must have been defended in 2025.

Application Timeline

  • Application Deadline: 31 July 2026
  • Winner Announcement: 30 September 2026
